  1. Thank you Karl for the excellent job making new parts for my Bowman M122, they match the existing parts exactly.
The parts made from scratch were oil pot lids...cylinder end caps and oil tap levers...great skill thank you very much

  2. My Mamod Brass car was sent to Karl at the Toy Steam Hospital for a strip down and clean up. Karl kept me informed of the progress together with photos at different stages. He gave me options and advice on what could be done and at what cost. The car is back now and I'm thoroughly pleased with the outcome. It looks even better than a brand new one! Many thanks Karl.

  4. My son and I have recently acquired a pair of ancient TE1A steam engines. Ben had his running fine and bought me one but before we could have a joint running session, his caught fire (don't ask!) and the three pipes to the engine frame (??) were detached. I volunteered to have a go at fixing this but despite following many suggestions from the Mamod Steam Engine Facebook group it turned out to be 'Mission Impossible' for someone with limited soldering expertise like myself. Eventually I appealed for expert help and Karl volunteered. He has done an excellent job of digging me out of a hole. Ben was glad to have the engine back but we didn't have time to run it yesterday as we decided to make the most of the Autumn sunshine and took the kids to the park. Ben has left the engine here so that we can have a double steam-up next time the family come over to play trains in the garden. Watch out for the video when that happens. I can thoroughly recommend Karl's work and also his friendly and helpful advice.

  16. I recently sent two boilers, a set of wheels and some soldering to be done at the Toy Steam Hospital. "Doctor" was very happy to take them on and his charges were very reasonable. He was amenable to part-exchange which was mutually beneficial to both parties, which started what was to be an excellent experience. The repairs themselves were of high quality - in one boiler where a pipe needed to be soldered in place, the brass was thoroughly cleaned and all the poor soft solder from years ago was removed. The pipe was then silver soldered in place, making for a much more efficient and hard-wearing plug/join. A classic example of going above and beyond the basic requirements. I am now happy to say that the boilers involved have bene pressed back into service and that the one has saved a little industrial engine of mine. Thoroughly recommended - pleasant customer service, high quality repairs and overall excellent experience. Would happily recommend THS for any future jobs.
